Nurse

what is it to be a nurse

it is to hold the precious lives and dreams and hopes and fears of those we serve

on the tips of our fingers, and in our minds to turn and find the very best we have to give

knowing that there are days we will leave with our hearts torn apart by what we’ve seen

and there are simply no words to say but just an empty place inside

and to know the sadness that we feel is nothing to the grief for those that bear the loss

but there are days where miracles still happen

living, breathing miracles that restore our hope and faith

and bring us joy that we were part of something bigger than ourselves
